Why is Chevroflex Ultra more effective at marking hazards than traditional chevron boards? Chevroflex Ultra is considered to offer a clearer indication ahead of a bend or hazard in the road, as it extends from ground level, creating a 'wall effect'. This effect has been proven to actually reduce or negate run-throughs at problem sites. When should High-Vis Surround be used? High-Vis Surround should be considered when there is a need to improve conspicuity against a complex or dark background. Additionally it should be used where its reflectorisation will be of benefit at night or its fluorescence will improve conspicuity in dull weather and at dusk. What happens to the Chevroflex Ultra when a vehicle drives through it? Chevroflex Ultra is made up of a bank of individual blades. On impact those blades which are struck will deform as the vehicle passes through the sign. Chevroflex Ultra is certified passively safe to Performance Standard NE3/100 of BS EN 12767:2007. Video footage of the testing process at MIRA is available on the Product Videos section of this website. How does the price of Chevroflex Ultra compare to traditional chevron boards? Higher initial cost can be off set by lower lifetime costs. Made from high performing Impactaflex material, the sign needs virtually no maintenance and its ability to clearly mark hazards can help reduce accidental collision. Chevroflex Ultra uses a below ground socket system, which means that if any individual blades are damaged by vehicle impact, they can be removed and replaced without the need for costly re-instatement. Does Chevroflex Ultra need illuminating? No, it is retroreflective. When sited on roundabouts, the 606 sign should be illuminated. Does Chevroflex Ultra have to conform to any Regulations? Yes, it is covered in the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002. Diagram 515.1 refers to Chevroflex Ultra denoting sharp bends and Diagram 515.1A refers to Chevroflex Ultra sited on roundabouts. When sited on a roundabout it must always be used in conjunction with a diagram 606 sign. How easy is Chevroflex Ultra to Install? It is a common misconception that Chevroflex Ultra is complicated to install. This is not actually the case. Once the sockets are installed, each Chevroflex Ultra Blade is numbered to ensure the sign is installed correctly. If blades were installed in the wrong order, they can simply be removed, and repositioned in a matter of minutes. Full instructions are supplied with each order. How big a trench needs to be dug for the sockets? The trench for the sockets should be 450mm deep, 300mm wide and 200mm longer than the overall length of the Chevroflex Ultra Sign. Does Chevroflex Ultra have other uses? Chevroflex Ultra can also be utilised to carry some signage for gateways and has been successfully used as a screen to help regulate the speed of traffic on the approach to roundabouts.
