The first Glasdon road safety product was the original Vergemaster™ Marker Post, launched in the late 1960s. Vergemaster Mk I was designed to return to its original shape in the event of a vehicle impact – the beginning of over forty years of Glasdon crash friendly, passively safe road products. The Vergemaster design has been continuously tested and revised since its launch and today’s fifth generation product is one of the most advanced in the world. |
The Glasdon socketed bollard range began in the early 1980s with the Admiral and Regency bollards and our first generation socket system. The socket allowed bollards to be easily removed and replaced for temporary, permanent or semi-permanent applications, and for the first time a damaged bollard could be quickly replaced without expensive groundworks. By 1995 the Glasdon bollard range had expanded to feature a wide variety of designs and a new, improved socket. |

The development of Impactapol® Material in the 1990s allowed the manufacture of many of our most popular bollard designs in a crash friendly, passively safe format. Rebound bollards have been popular with highways engineers across the UK for over fifteen years. |
Glasdon products are extensively tested in our Quality Assurance Laboratory as part of our BS EN ISO 9001:2000 test procedure. Our crash friendly products are tested by TRL or MIRA to the highest standards and all certification information can be seen on individual product web pages. We have also recently tested some of our passively safe products in a wind tunnel. |
